Contemporary ceramics breaks down the barriers between visual arts, design and crafts. Designers are moving way from traditional use together with other forms of visual art expression drawing, painting, photography, and video ceramics often take surprising forms. In this venture, one hundred and ten artists, emerging or established talents, bring proof that ceramics can answer he most up to date artistic concerns.

This double project is linked to the «th general meeting of the Académie internationale de la céramique (AIC) being held in Paris from 14 to 16 September 2010, the first time it has been held in France since 1981. It is against this background that Sèvres - Cité de la céramique is hosting the traditional exhibition by members of the AIC, selected by their peers in each country and invited to submit a recent piece of work for display in the exhibition. About 200 members have taken up the invitation. This extraordinary collection of a broad spectrum of work acts as a world view of contemporary
ceramic art in a single exhibition.
