The opening of the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection is the result of François Pinault's desire to invest in a place tailored to his collection.
The project was carefully designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who succeeded in making this unique place a showcase for François Pinault's contemporary art collection.
La Bourse de Commerce, the new museum of the Pinault Collection retraces the adventure of this place, from the origins of its construction to the present day. It offers readers sketches, archive documents, photos of the various stages of the work and on-site views, to grasp its new function as a museum, whose contemporary eye of Tadao Ando has been able - while paying homage to it - to enhance its forms and volumes.
This beautiful book tells and illustrates the story of an emblematic monument transformed into a museum of contemporary art, designed today to exhibit, share, and inspire the collection that François Pinault has been assembling for over 40 years. Through all the actors of the project, and in particular through the voices of Tadao Ando, Lucie Niney and Thibault Marca, the architects of its transformation, and that of Pierre-Antoine Gatier, the chief architect of the Monuments Historiques who oversaw its restoration, this richly illustrated and documented volume sheds light on the birth of the Pinault Collection Museum in Paris.
