The former Royal Furniture Guard will resume its age-old functions as an exhibition space thanks to the exceptional sponsorship of the Al Thani Collection Foundation, hosting the historical riches of this unique collection.
The Tsuyoshi Tane Architects studio has been chosen to design the new exhibition spaces within the monument.
The catalog presents this private collection, which brings together a wide range of works from many civilizations from antiquity to the present day, and has never before been displayed in this way to the general public.
This collection will highlight a rich diversity of works spanning more than 6,000 years. Celebrating the unifying power of art across cultures, the exhibition brings together such masterpieces as the head of an ancient Egyptian royal figure carved from red jasper (1475-1292 BC), a Chinese bronze sculpture of a seated bear from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 25 AD), and an ancient Egyptian statue of a bear. C. - 25 A.D.), a Mayan mask pendant (200-600 A.D.), the jade cup of the Mughal emperor Jahangir (1569-1627), or a chalcedony and vermeil bust of the emperor Hadrian (Southern Italy, c. 1240).
