Lionel Kazan

Lionel Kazan (1930-2016) is a Monegasque fashion photographer, son of a Russian immigrant and a Polish mother. His work is notable for his images published in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s in various French and American fashion magazines. Trained in Paris at the Technical School of Photography and Cinematography, he started at Condé Nast as a laboratory assistant. At the end of 1952, his meeting with Hélène Lazareff was decisive. Thus begins a long and beautiful collaboration with Elle magazine and Femina Illustration. He will make a hundred covers for Elle. In the mid-1970s, Lionel Kazan stopped fashion photography to devote himself fully to painting.
